There are plenty of headbands for women, girls and babies but there are almost none for men. And they also need them in the cold weather. So I designed this simple crochet headband with this in mind and I'm quite happy with the result. It actually turned out quite nice to wear but I couldn't catch my model to photo ;-)
Anyway here is the pattern...

Hook - size 6mm/J
Yarn used - 100% cotton Garnstudio DROPS Paris, Garnstudio Drops Loves You 5
Size - standard men head. I chained it 58cm/23in. It may vary depending on the head size.
Colors of your choice: color A and B
This pattern uses US crochet terms.
Stitches used: double crochet foundation chain (can be replaced with ch and then a row of dc), hdc, dc, rib stitch
Special Note:
Rib stitch - yarn over, insert the hook in the third chain of the hdc stitch from the previous row. Look at your work - there is 2 chains of the stitch on the top and when you look back you will see that third stitch where you have to insert the hook, now yarn over and pull through all 3 stitches at the hook (like you make a hdc stitch but instead of pushing the hook through the top 2 chains of the stitch you insert it at the bottom back chain. See the picture below:
If you look your work from top this is how it looks like. The arror points to the stitch to insert the hook for the rib stitch. This will give some knitting appearance of the headband.
Pattern:
Row1: With color A make dc foundation chain - 58cm/23in long, ss at ch3 in the start. If you don't like the foundation chain you can always start with a simple chain and then dc in 4th chain from hook, dc till the end. Depending on your hook, yarn and the headband size needed the number of stitches will vary.
Now work in round:
Row 2: ch 2, hdc in the same st, hdc in each st till end, ss
Row 3: same as row 2
Row 4: change to color B, ch2, rib st(check special note on rib st above) in each st till end, ss
Row 5: switch to color A, ch2, rib st in each st till end, ss
Row 6: switch to color B, ch 2, rib st in each st, ss
Row 7: repeat row 5
Row 8: repeat row 6
Row 9: repeat row 5
Row 10-11: repeat row 2
That's is! Simple and fast :)
