The yarn used is Drops Paris and Drops Love ♥ You #5. Both are 100% cotton. Using cotton yarn for  a headband is not really good as it is not stretchy and warm but this was the only yarn I had with the colors needed and I wanted to experiment with colors. I went one size bigger hook than recommended for this yarn (so it is a little bit more stretchy) and sewed butterfly button at the end for this final result.

For this pattern you need:
Yarn - any will do with the colors you want to combine
Hook size 6 (J/10) or the one recommended for the yarn you are using. Just follow the instruction for the size in cm or in.

The pattern uses US crochet terms.

Stitches used: sc, dc, fpdc, ss and ch

Tips: I normally loosely ch2 instead of ch3 when starting a row of dc. This makes the gap at start smaller and almost impossible to see. You may go with ch 3 if you feel more confortable.

Color used:

Color A - black
Color B - purple
Color C - orange
Color D - yellow
Or any combination of colors you want to try :)

Pattern (Toddler size):

With color A make odd number of chains till the ch reaches 17in/43cm (I made 63ch loosely). The finishing edge will add another 2.5in/6cm to the lenght, so if you need bigger size just add more ch.

Row 1: dc in 3rd ch from hook (counts as 1 dc), 1 dc in every st till end, turn

Row 2: ch1, skip first st, 1 sc in each st till end, turn.

Row 3: Cut the yarn and switch to color B
ch2 (count as dc), skip first st, * fpdc in the dc below next sc st, 1dc in next st *, repeat from * to * till end, finish with dc, turn

Row 4: ch1, skip first st, 1 sc in each st till end, turn (with color B)

Row 5: Cut the yarn and switch to color C
ch2(count as dc), skip first st, * 1 dc into next st, 1 fpdc around the dc below next sc*, repeat from * to last 2 st, 1 dc in each of the last two st, turn

The next rows repeat row 2, 3, 4 and 5 with just different colors.

Row 6: rep row 2 with color C

Row 7: Cut the yarn and switch to color D, rep row 3

Row 8: rep row 4 (color D)

Row 9: with color C rep row 5

Row 10: rep row 2 (color C)

Row 11: with color B rep row 3

Row 12: rep row 4 (color B)

Row 13: with color A rep row 5

Row 14: rep row 2 (color A). Do not cut the yarn here.

Weave in the yarn ends so you can crochet on the side.

On both sides:
sc 14 (2 sc for each row) loosely.

* sc2tog, sc till 2 st left, sc2tog*, turn
Repeat from * to * till only 2 sc are left on the row. The one side of the headband is ready and you may cut the yarn. On the other side you have to make the button hole. When only 2 sc left on the row make a chain of 6 (or depending on the button size you want to sew there) and ss to the other sc left on the row. Now go back and sc in each of the ch6 till the first sc. SS, cut the yarn and weave in the end.

Sew a button

Enjoy!
