Bee Hat

Bee hat for any little lady or gentleman (just don't make a flower). This pattern is designed for 2-5 years old toddler but may be easily adjusted for any size (see the notes in the pattern).

This pattern uses US crochet terms.

Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (I used 50% acrilyc, 50% wool)
Hook size: J/10 or 6mm (hook size conversion chart)

Stitches used: mc, dc, hdc, sc, sc2tog

Finished size: To fit toddler 2-5 years old

Abbreviations:

MC - magic circle

dc - double crochet

hdc - half double crochet

sc - single crochet

sc2tog - stitch decrease

Pattern:

With yellow:

Round 1: In MC make 10 dc, ss in the first

Round 2: ch2, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st, ss at the end (20 dc)

Round 3: ch2, dc in same st, repeat *1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st*, end with ss (30 dc)

Round 4: ch2, dc in same st, repeat *1 dc in the next 2 st, 2 dc in next st*, ss in ch2 (40 dc) 

Round 5: ch2, dc in same st, repeat *1 dc in the next 3 st, 2 dc in next st*, ss in ch2 (50 dc)

For size 2-5 years:
Round 6 and continue below with round 7:

Round 6: Join black. Ch 1, hdc in same st, hdc around. ss in the end. Now continue with round 7.

Size 6+:

Round 6: Now join black. ch1, hdc in same st, repeat * 1 hdc in next 4 st, 2 hdc in next st*, ss in ch 1 (60 hdc). No more st increases for this size. If you want to make a bigger hat you may continue 1-2 more rows of st increases following the same pattern - 10 st increases each row evenly spread.

Round 7-8: Join yellow. ch 2, dc in same st, dc in every st around. ss in ch2 (60 dc).

Round 9: Join black, ch1, hdc in same st, hdc around (60 st).

Round 10-11: Repeat round 7

Round 12: Repeat round 9

Round 13-14: Repeat round 7

Round 15: Join white, ch1, sc in same st, sc around. Cut the yarn and weave in the ends.

That's for the hat

Antennas

The antennas are made on 2 parts and then sewn together. 

With black - first make cord of 10 st (here is the tutorial), make 2. Now the top of the antennas, make 2:

Round 1: in mc sc 6.

Round 2: ch1, sc in same st, repeat *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st*, ss in ch 1 (9 st).

Round 3: ch 1, sc in same st, repeat *sc2tog, sc*, ss in ch1 (6 st). Cut off the yarn and sew to the cord.

Flower: 

The flower is pretty simple.

With yellow: in mc sc 12, ss at the first st.

Join white: *ch2, 3 dc in same st, dc in next st*, repeat 5 more times.

That's all - quite simple but any kid will like it :)
