Summer Dream Sweater

This sweater is especially designed for girls but can be changed to fit also boys or even adults. It is made of CAKES! If you enjoy working with yarn cakes and hate weaving in the ends this is what you can make with them.
I used Ice Yarn cakes for this special project but they are really very similar to the Caron cakes that use 5mm hook.

There is currently only one size available 7-8years but I'm working on the other sizes too.

  • The sweater is made from down to top.
  • This stitch may slant when working in round. If this happen try to ss tight at the end of the row. You may also just turn the work at the end of each row and make a round in the opposite direction. This will slightly change the texture - like it is for the front and back part.

Sleeves border

With different color(I choosed pink) Ch2, 2 dc in the starting st, skip 1 st, *3dc in the same st, skip 1 st *, repeat * - * around, end with ss in the top of the starting ch. Repeat the same for the second sleeve.

Pocket:

The pocket is just a square of hdc.
Row 1: Ch 13, hdc in the second st from hook, hdc in each ch till the end (12 st). Turn.
Row 2: Ch 1 and hdc in the same st, hdc in each st till the end. Turn.
Row 3 - 10: Repeat row 2

Pocket border:

Join different than the pocket color. Ch 3, skip one st and ss in the next. *Ch2, 2 dc in the same st, skip one st and ss in the next*, repeat * - * 4 more times.

I have added also a sweet butterfly button.
Now sew the pocket on the sweater.

Flower applique:

For the flowers I used cotton yarn as it has better stitch definition and 2.5 mm hook to make them smaller.

In mc work 6 sc, ss. Join different color - repeat [ch 2, 2 dc in same st, ss in the next st] 6 times - for the 6 petals.
Create 6 mini flowers and sew them on the neck.
