The linked treble crochet stitch(LTC) is a variation of the treble/tripple crochet stitch that creates a much closed fabric than the regular tr stitch. It is easy to crochet and makes a perfect choice for winter garments or any project where you want a tight fabric with no holes.
This pattern uses US crochet terms.
The LTC has completely different look on the right and the wrong side. If you want to keep the same look you may add a row of sc in between the rows. You may also make a row of ss instead - this will create a railway look between the rows of LTC.
And here is how to make the LTC stitch step by step:
1. Chain any number of chains.
2. Insert the hook in the second ch from hook and pull a loop.
3. Now do the same in the next 2 stitches - insert the hook in each of the next 2 chains and draw a loop.
4. Now it is time to finish the first LTC st - yarn over the hook (5 loops on the hook) and finish off like every other tr. Pull through the first 2 loops, yarn over, pull through the next 2 loops, yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops. First LTC made.
5. Now insert the hook in the first horizontal loop of the LTC that you just made and pull a loop. See 1. on the picture above, the loop is pulled and there are 2 loops on the hook, make the same for the loop marked with 2. Insert the hook there and pull a loop - 3 loops on the hook. Now insert the hook in the next chain and draw a loop from there. Finish off like a normal tr crochet st. Yo, pull through the first 2 loops, yo and pull through the next 2 st, yo and pull through the last 2 st. Continue with step 5. till the end of the chain.
6. Turn the work - you will see it has completely different look at the wrong side. To make it consistent on right and the wrong side just add a row of sc.
You may choose to continue with the LTC rows if you want to.
7. Chain 3, insert the hook into the second stitch from hook and pull a loop, insert the hook in the 3rd st from hook and pull another loop, now insert the hook into the next st and pull a loop (4 loops on the hook). Finish off like normal tr st.
8. Continue with step 7. till the end of the row. Make another row of sc.
This is all :)
