The Fish Hat

Little boys also need beautiful hats. Although I've made this hat specially for my boy, my daughter loves it so much that I'm now making a second one...

This pattern uses US crochet terms.

Yarn: 100% cotton, but every other yarn will do as well
Hook size: G/6 or 4mm (hook size conversion chart)
Stitches used: ss, ldc, hdc, dc, ch
Finished size: Toddler size (3-6 years)

Abbreviations:

ss - slip stitch
ldc ss - linked double crochet slip stitch (see below detailed explanation)
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet
ch - chain
mc - magic circle

How to do the linked double crochet slip stitch:
When you work with ldc you can't use the traditional slip stitch to join rounds as there will be holes in the project. This is how to join the ldc with ss at the end of each round.

When you have to do only one more ldc - start as a normal ldc

Check for this loop (shown at the picture) and insert the hook there, draw a loop and pull it through the first loop. Then pull it through the next loop.

Now you have two loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through both loops.

You will have now an almost finished stitch. Now do a normal ss at the top of the starting chain.

That's it. Almost invisible join :)
